The conference is over! We had a great time.
Here are just some of the pictures.  In addition to the great in-person and virtual speakers some of the highlights included dinners at the Energy and Nature Center at Jones Beach (featuring-all-you-can eat local clams and Blue Point oysters as well as lobster rolls,) and onboard the Sapphire Cruise Ship in Freeport New York. After a tour of the Hofstra labs and a visit to our exhibitors our student conference participants joined us for the presentation by Maynard Okereke.  One of the most popular field trips was to the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area.  We also were treated to a mini course on marine mammals taught by Joy Reidenberg in the Freeport SPLASH center. After a few other delicious dinners, a panel of local experts discussing local environmental problems and solutions with broader ramifications, the awards ceremony, visits to the exhibitors displays and Sea Grant and NMEA Board meetings the conference finished off with a performance by the SCUPPETS which remined everyone about the local sources of pollution. If that wasn't enough the Coney Island Aquarium treated everyone to a free day and private behind the scenes tour of the the facilities after which conferees walked the boardwalk and had a Nathan's frank (or two,) before heading home!
