We're looking forward to having you join like-minded marine enthusiasts at this year's annual NYSMEA conference, "Striving for Hope and Resilience, Locally and Globally," taking place over two days, April 19 and 20 at Molloy University, Rockville Center, Long Island. Come for one or both days!
Friday will be field trip day, and there are two great trips to choose from. Each trip will start at 10 am, and costs $15.
1. Enjoy the West Sayville Waterfront
- Meet at CERCOM (Molloy's waterfront research station) - See tanks and learn about horseshoe crab research
- Seining and water quality exploration on the beach of the Great South Bay, located within the South Shore Estuary Reserve
- Visit the Long Island Maritime Museum's shipwreck exhibition, oyster culling house, historic bayman’s cottage, boatbuilding shop, maritime library, and the extensive collection of sailboats including the 1888 Priscilla oyster dredge.
- Lunch at Kingston’s Clam Bar or buy a sandwich from a local deli (lunch is not included in price of trip)
- Possible visits to the Hart facility for oyster hatchery/kelp farming and the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum (additional $15 charge)
2. Visit to the Town of Hempstead Facilities at Point Lookout
- Tour the Town of Hempstead's Clean Energy Center (Wind, solar, H-power, electric power demonstrations)
- Clam hatchery and grow out facility, followed by a beach and water exploration on the ocean beach
- Lunch at a local restaurant in Point Lookout (not included in price of trip)

If you're not based locally, consider spending the night at a convenient hotel, such as the Hampton Inn and Suites, or at an Airbnb home or apartment!
Saturday on the Molloy campus will feature a full day of speakers, exhibits, posters, workshops, networking, an awards luncheon, and an optional prix fixe dinner.
Registration begins at 8 am. Enjoy a continental breakfast while catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. Our keynote speakers, Dr. John Tanacredi and Yumiko Iwasaki, will address the themes of hope and resilience starting at 9 am. Following the keynotes, there will be one 45-minute workshop session with several presentations to choose from. We'll break for lunch and awards from 12:15-2:00, then resume with two more workshop sessions, finishing around 4:15.
Extend your conference experience by staying for the optional prix fixe dinner at Churchill's in Rockville Centre at 5:00. You'll enjoy a three-course meal with a choice of entree and beer/wine/soda included for $85. The deadline to register with the dinner is April 15, 2024.

All conference registrants must be current NYSMEA members. (Email srichards@saintannsny.org if you are unsure of your status.) Before registering, you'll need to log in to your NYSMEA membership or renew/join NYSMEA.
Select one of the 9 ticket types. Basic registration is $45, and includes all the events at Molloy from 8 am to 4:15: continental breakfast, lunch, exhibitors, awards, keynote speakers, and 3 workshop sessions. The field trip fee is $15, and the prix fixe dinner at Churchill's is $85.
